Vanessa has many skills as a teacher. She offers insight from many years of training and performing. Her experience gives her the ability to relate to the problems that singers face as well as offer solutions and practical exercises to overcome these problems. She has a very amienable nature that allowed me to feel comfortable and relaxed. She also has the ability to be firm when it was necessary to get me moving.
The skills that she teaches are straightforward, simple and achieve results. I had around twenty lessons with Vanessa, and over that time my voice has shown dramatic improvement. I went from what i would consider a natural singer with a bit of ability to what i now believe is a professional singer with impressive skills. I can see this in the reactions of audience members, as well as the reactions from members of my bands. Most importantly, i can see it in myself. I had lessons with Vanessa for around 6 months and really felt the improvement in all aspects of my voice. Of particular benefit to me was having a book to accompany the lessons which supported what I learned. It meant that I could practice a variety of exercises, often in advance of lessons. It also meant that I never got bored of doing the same exercises each week as there are over 50 in the book.
If you’re looking to improve you voice,it is definitely worth checking out the book and having lessons with Vanessa.

I am simply and extremely grateful to Vanessa for her time teaching me. It was about six months and had she not had to re-locate I would have stayed as a student with her indefinitely because she made my first ever experience with vocal coaching so comfortable, amiable and instructive.

I’d been thinking about fine tuning my voice for quite some time. I’ve played guitar for close on 40 years and studied guitar and various forms of music with a number of world class musicians; and have taught guitar for at least 30 years. I’m hard to please to say the least. When I saw Vanessa’s ad on a notice board I got quite a shock because living in a small town these days, it can be hard to find people who are experts in their fields. After immediately recognizing the sort of things of value Vanessa had highlighted in her ad, I decided to go along because I realized that only a person who knows what they are doing would bother to mention the techniques she uses.
Once I met Vanessa and had a lesson, I realized that she is a no-nonsense teacher who creates a relaxed enough learning environment to feel at ease in but also gives clear guidelines to allow me as a student to know where I’m going, what’s required of me, what my limitations and weaknesses and strengths are; and gives clear and sensible advice to enable me to practice at home between lessons. Good teachers are hard to find and from my experience, you’d be hard pressed to get a teacher as skilled and organized as Vanessa.
